Remarks | Andreas Masius (Maes) war einer der ersten europäischen Syrologen. Nach Studien des Hebräischen in Löwen, des Arabischen in Rom (bei Guillaume Postel) und Syrisch bei Moses von Mardin (ab 1553) fertigte er für Julius von Pflug (letzter katholischer Bischof von Naumburg-Zeitz, gest. 1564) eine freie lateinische Übersetzung der syrischen Basilius-Anaphora an, die später auch gedruckt wurde. Die vorliegende Hs. ist eine Vorarbeit für die gedruckte Version, die 1569 in Antwerpen als Beilage zu Andreas Masius, De Paradiso Commentarius; Scriptus ante annos prope septingentos à Mose Bar-Cepha Syro, S. 235-256 erschien. |
