The website offers search patterns with simple to complex search possibilities. This is reflected in simple, extended, and advanced search structures. The simple search enables full text search of the metadata. The extended and advanced search offer specific search fields, offering multiple search options. The name or term searched for can be written with transcription or without. Capitalisation is not relevant. If more search terms are entered consecutively, the operator “AND” is executed. Furthermore, it is possible to enter an asterisk (*) as a so-called wild card in place of another symbol/letter. Apart from the search forms, a filter makes it possible to search according to the following classification menu: language, scripture, interlinear translation, material, material colour, catchwords, script – style, ink colour, completeness, subject matter, type of entry, owner. A third search option is to browse the index – either the complete index of all collections on ITIM, or the index of a chosen collection.
